Celebrating 69 years!

Minutes of Richmond Garden Club meeting held 1957! (61 members) ~ Mrs. Allen, Secretary

"The Richmond Garden Club was formed on February 21, 1957 when a small group of people interested in the formation of such a club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Kroft.)
At a second meeting on March 7 this first slate of officers was elected.
President ~ Mr. E. Kroft
Vice-president ~ Mr. Caldwell
Secretary/Treasurer ~ Mrs. Allen
It was at this meeting that the name 'Richmond Garden Club' was chosen for the group with the day for meetings being Thursday.
A succesful beginning was made with some interesting speakers being heard, namely:
1. Mr. Webster of the Department of Agriculture on "Soil Preparation and Preparation of Types of Fertilizers."
2. Mrs. Mary Matthews of Vancouver Rose Society on "Pruning Roses".
3. Mr. Paulley of Point Grey Chrysanthemum Society on "Growing and Caring for Chrysanthemums."
4. Mrs. Keith Wyles and Mrs. Roy Whilely on "Flower Arrangements".
5. Mr. Caldwell and Mrs. Matthews on "Care and Planting of Gladiolas and Roses".
Our story today!

Today our members continue to plant food for their families, with a strong focus on attracting pollinator insects and wildlife to their gardens, and to ensure that we educate many more people in the community to protect our environment through best practices in  gardening.

We continue strong partnerships in the community with City of Richmond and Steveston Harbour Authority. Paulik Neighbourhood Park and the Steveston Boardwalk seasonal
containers are our key projects in the community.
